Sustainable Living

“Sustainable living is a lifestyle that attempts to reduce an individual’s or society’s use of the Earth’s natural resources and personal resources. Practitioners of sustainable living often attempt to reduce their carbon footprint by altering methods of transportation, energy consumption, and diet.” — wikipedia

I was born in the 70’s, an era of economic struggle, cultural change and technological innovation.  Most people at the time are working their ass off to provide for the family.  The world is too busy making improvements for technology and the economy than worrying about global warming.  During my childhood, the only reason for our parents to tell us to turn off the lights to conserve energy is to save money, not for environmental awareness.  Until I become a parent myself, I realize the earth is being destroyed badly by humans.  To give our children a better future, to do our best to care for our environment and love our planet earth is our only choice.

Being living in the city my whole adult life, not till having my own children I get to know the importance of nature.  Taking my kids out in nature, not just being out there having fun, but harvesting the vegetables planted by local farmers, learning about farming, raising the livestock and planting our own food source.  How to live a sustainable life is the goal.  Seems like a big step, but it’s still a possible dream to pursue.

Every day is a blessing.  Starting with a morning sunshine through the window, be grateful to our mother earth. Simple measures like reducing energy consumption, composting food waste, eating less meat, becoming more eco-friendly can go a long way in reducing our environmental impact and making this planet a cleaner and safer place for our children.
